Victoria School Foundation for the Arts

To dream the possible dream... that’s the Foundation’s vision for all talented Victoria School of the Arts students.

To achieve this end the Victoria School Foundation for the Arts was launched with a million dollar dream to ensure that no student is denied the opportunity to achieve his or her artistic dreams. The Foundation now has a $1.4 million fund endowed with the Edmonton Community Foundation. The ultimate goal is to raise $1.7 million.

As of June, 2011, 191 scholarships have been awarded totaling $433,500 to Victoria School graduates. Students were accepted into the National Theatre School, Sheridan College, Emily Carr and many other prestigious schools to pursue careers in the performing and visual arts.

As well, the Foundation funds the “Dreams Alive” master classes each year. This past year over 1000 students benefited from presenters such as the Drum Brothers, master drummers from the U.S, Ben Vereen and Bill Eddins.

The Foundation certainly understands the value of a dollar and is making stars of its donors! Donor recognition takes many forms, including named scholarships, named facilities, and named programs. All contributions to this foundation are administered through the Edmonton Community Foundation, and qualify for income tax credits.

Willy Wonka Gala

On December 3rd the Foundation will host a matinee performance of the musical Willy Wonka, based on the children’s classic novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Dahl’s timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation for all ages. This scrumdillyicious musical is guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth and is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season for the whole family! Speaking of sweet teeth there promises to be treats for children and adults served during the intermission. Tickets are only $25 for children, $40 for adults and $30 for seniors which includes the show and refreshments. Mark the date on your calendar and call 780-392-3534 to order tickets.

A great idea for corporate family Christmas parties, discounts are available on sales of 25 tickets or more and a limited number of private rooms are available to groups both at the intermission and post show. For bookings of 25+, please call Marguerite Trussler at 780-469-9555.
